I'm Octave, a software engineer. I like building small, precise tools, the kind you open once and keep forever.

By day I work on developer tooling and data-heavy web apps. The rest of the time I make drum machines, maps, speed readers and other things that scratch a very specific itch. This site is where they end up, along with notes on how they work.

I care about type safety, fast feedback loops, software that works offline, and interfaces that feel like instruments rather than forms.
